Forensic
Evaluations
My first forensic evaluation was a natural extension of the seven
years I spent as director of drug treatment at Cedar Junction
prison, at that time the only maximum security prison in Massachusetts.
It involved an aid -in-sentencing evaluation of a young man who
confessed to making bomb threats.
In the mid-nineties I completed over 100 hours of forensic training
under the auspices of the American Academy of Forensic Psychology
and for a few years had all my evaluations reviewed by Dr. Paul
Lavoie, a Designated Forensic Psychologist.I performed numerous
civil commitment and aid-in- sentencing evaluations since that
time.
In recent years my forensic practice has focused on Competency,
NGI, and Miranda Waiver cases. Some of these cases involved mentally
retarded individuals and included aspects of false confession.
I have served as an expert in only one civil tort case ,involving
poor clinical treatment of substance abuse and depression resulting
a suicide attempt.
Attorneys Daniel Solomon (617-367-5800), Mark Miliotis (978-502-2558),
and Steve Ferrarone (413-253-1363) have all graciously agreed
to serve as references.
