Clinical Interests:

Post-partum Depression

Childbirth is an exciting life event, often fraught with blends of many emotions, and maybe even some major struggles.  Post-partum depression is a medical urgency, and needs to be promptly treated, both medically and psychologically.  It is also a family event, needing the cooperation of as many people as possible to get everyone safely through it.

I offer psychotherapy groups for women who continue to have the "blues" for more than 6 weeks beyond what is comfortable or healthy.   Several individual sessions are necessary to develop the necessary support systems around the family before group treatment can begin.

"Interactions of early infant-mother dyads"

The objective of these meetings is to join, observe, and inform infant-mother dyads as the mutual relationship unfolds in the early days and weeks of the baby’s life. We together observe and discuss the meanings of the baby’s behavior and the mother’s response within herself and to the baby. These meetings are usually short-term in nature as the infant-mother pairs comfortably adapt to life together. The meetings are necessarily held during the daytime hours; significant others/spousal partners are welcome into the meetings as their schedules allow.
